Speaker Series

Overview

From 2026-2028, SEISMIC will host at least 20 in-person speakers across the collaboration. Each partner institution will be responsible for hosting 1-2 speakers on their campus. These speaker visits will accelerate research, build community, enhance the spread of ideas, and reinforce our focus on alternative assessments. Campus Liaisons at partner institutions are encouraged to use our Speaker List for ideas from SEISMIC members on speakers to invite.

We hope institutions will host speakers in person whenever possible, as this supports deeper, local engagement (e.g., meetings with different groups, one-on-ones, and meals together). We also encourage institutions to make their events accessible to virtual attendees by recording the talk or by offering a hybrid option. 

At this time, SEISMIC does not have funding for speaker honoraria, so we ask that institutions cover these costs. Please contact Project Manager Nita Tarchinski (nitaked@umich.edu) to advertise your speaker event. Info on which institution is hosting a speaker each month is in the table below.
